This book follows the early career of Lucrezia Borgia's sons, foucsing on how his household was run. This could have been a quite boring summation of costs and outlays, but it was a fascinating glimpse into the running of his household/5.       If youre looking for a quick, entertaining book about the Borgia family, with the all too well known colorful tales about them, then maybe this might be the book for you, but then again you could easily have all the info Mr. Hibbert throws on this bio on Wikipedia or any other historical fiction. it will save you both money and time/5.   I presonally liked "The Family" by Mario Puzo, a novel. The novel is about Pope Alexander VI (Rodrigo Borgia) and his family. Puzo spent over twenty years working on the book off and on, while he wrote others. It was finished by his longtime.

Fifteenth-century Rome: the Borgia family is on the rise. Lucrezia’s father is named Pope Alexander VI, and he places his daughter and her brothers Cesare, Giovanni, and Goffredo in the jeweled splendor—and scandal—of his court/5(22). Before the Tudors, there were the Borgias. More passionate. More dangerous. More deadly. From the author of Poison, comes a new historical thriller, featuring the same intriguing and beautiful heroine: Borgia court poisoner, Francesca Giordano.. In the summer of , Rodrigo Borgia, Alexander VI, has been pope for almost a year.

Although this book is abridged, it provides a detailed if somewhat tedious and dispassionate look at the papal court. Bouchard puts great emphasis on ritual, ceremonial procedure and diplomatic form, while downplaying court intrigue and the more disreputable activities of the Borgia family/5(3).

At the court of the Borgia book is the only account of the 2nd Borgia papacy with no axe to grind. In fact, the author's main criticisms tend to concern breeches of protocol/precedence by the Pope - as Vatican Master of Ceremonies /5.
